My Home Studio

How some bloggers can do a photoshoot and post every day is beyond me. I can do brief spurts here and there, but I find it very hard to be consistent with posting.  Then again, my life is not consistent right now (not that that's a bad thing, mind you. It's just something that I'm having to adjust to). I am a freelance storyboard artist and model. While the past few years have yielded the odd job here or there, I've usually had to have some sort of stable part-time job (ex. Starbucks, legal assistant at a law office, etc.). This year has been quite different! I've been booked solid with storyboarding work since before Christmas. Sadly, due to the freelance nature of my job it's hard to plan in advance. I've had a few photoshoots for my blog planned out that I've had to shelf for later. So my apologies at the lack of posting! Ah, but enough of me rambling. Time for pictures! Here's some photos of my home studio where I spend most of my waking hours.

On his days off, he's usually doing Photoshop work while I'm at the drafting table. Photobucket Now, it's back to work with me! Time for tea... Photobucket

  1. Greetings,
Thank you sooo much for posting this!
This was so much fun and actually...super helpful to me. :) *glad I am not the only one who has little figures on their desk area...;) and yours are LOTR and Beauty and the Beast..<3
    So awesome.*

I am trying to make space in my room for an "art studio" side. But I might have to move that into my bedroom because the sewing room is...well..taken up with machines and an army of dress forms. lol.

Yeah for books! We have many of the same ones. too fun. AHHHHHH is that the "art of the Pirates of the Caribbean"? down on the lower shelf there? :D :D :D
Wow...actually, this is really creepy....your lower book shelf has at least 12 books that are the same as mine. lol. even the marvel drawing one!

Oh, don't worry about not posting everyday.
I don't know how people do it either. I have 100 things I want to get done each day...and well, that doesn't usually happen. If I could figure out how not to sleep maybe I could do them all. I totally understand about a freelance schedule...it can make it interesting.

I am off to sew and drink some tea.

  2. Thanks Lorena. :)

Brielle - Hah! I wouldn't be a proper geek without figurines dotting my studio now would I? ;) I'm glad it's been helpful for you. Do you draw as well as sew ridiculously amazing costumes?

Yes, my parents got me Pirates of the Caribbean for Christmas one year. I absolutely love the costume designs in there, specifically the ones by Darrell Warner. I think there are just certain books that are beloved by many artists. Some of them are my dad's books that I've taken claim of. :P

  3. Great setup - love the flooring! I like the angled lighting over your drawing (?) desk; I want something similar for my sewing table.
