First and foremost, I have some exciting news! After years of trying and 20+ agency rejections, as of yesterday I am now an officially agency-signed model and actress! I will be represented by Elzemeyer Talent Agency in Nashville (though their headquarters are in Memphis). http://www.elzemeyertalentagency.com/
Deer Faerie - The costume director, faerie director and I finally settled on a complete look for my character which I then sketched out in markers.
Belle - While the costume itself is completely done, the wig is proving to be the bane of the whole outfit. It took me a year and three wig stylists to finally get a wig...or so I thought. Unfortunately I got an email from the lady who was making the wig informing me that she had refunded my purchase. (She felt she couldn't adequately style it realistically.) While she did the right and honourable thing and I am very grateful for it, I still want to bang my cranium against a wall. Not against her at all, just that I can't seem to get this stupid wig to come to fruition! Ideally I want a lace-front wig (with skin-top would be amazing!) as Belle's hair is a middle part so it would be quite obvious if there's not a natural hair line showing that it's a wig. I'd prefer it to look as natural as possible. But I've exhausted my resources. Do any of you, dear readers, know of any good wig stylists?Tomb Raider - I'm coming to the conclusion that this costume is totally snakebit. I've been working on gathering pieces for going on 2 years and am seemingly thwarted at every turn. The boots have been the hardest to find, with the pants coming in a close second (apparently they don't like to make sturdy cargo pants in my size. I ordered a pair from Ebay UK only they were huge on me and entirely too dark for colour accuracy). I haven't been able to locate the right coloured tank top either. Well, at least I have the necklace.....I REALLY want this costume done by August. Firstly, in time for the new game release. Secondly, for a pre-release photo/videoshoot that I have planned and thirdly, to wear at Dragoncon. If you guys with your sharp eagle eyes happen to see anything online or in US stores that would work for the picture below, let me know! I'd be incredibly grateful.

Eventualy I'll get some more outfit posts on here. I'm a wee bit limited trying to take pictures on my own (or as I've been doing with waiting for willing friends to snap shots when we go galavanting around town).

Congrats on your agency signing!! The faerie costume is looking awesome so far. Hoping you get some breakthrough with Belle and Tomb Raider soon!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the finished faerie costume!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, for the Belle wig, I'd contact Traci Hines (etsy.com/shop/sirensgrotto) and ask her if she can do the wig for you. Her work is amazing.

Yasmin - Thanks! (Oh by the way, I did find your address in my drawer. ;) )
ReplyDeleteRiley - I have been tempted to contact her, unfortunately her wigs are a bit out of my budget. (As they'd be $200+ and Belle's front middle part is apparently a challenge so I imagine that would add some extra charge.) Thanks for the suggestion though!
