Polka Dots and Balloons

Photobucket
I bought this dress many years ago (that then hung in my closet for years, only to be brought out for the occassional wedding/Easter). I was intrigued by it when I was younger due to the small crinoline skirt underneath. At the time, there were no crinoline skirts to be found in popular trends, so I snatched it up. After hearing that the weather was going to be quite warm outside, I felt this dress needed to get some fresh air. So off I went to prance around Centennial Park in Nashville with an arm full of balloons. Unexpected? Possibly. Smile-inducing? Absolutely!

The wind was very blustery so having my hair loose was making it difficult for any pictures to be taken where tresses weren't covering my face. So I took the blue ribbon that was normally tied around the waist of the dress and tied it Belle-style around my hair. A few strands still managed to get loose.

I'm still working on perfecting the 'jump' shot. It's a lot trickier than it looks!

Throughout the shoot, we saw many small face staring in wide-eyed wonder up at the balloons. So rather than let them go to waste, I wrapped up the shoot by giving the balloons to a couple of very interested little boys.

  1. What an inspired matching of the balloons to the polka dots. My favourite image is the last one of you where the balloons appear to be carrying you off, Mary Poppins style!

  2. Rosalind - I was inspired by one of your older bluebell pictures for this shoot. I hadn't consciously thought about matching accent colours in an outfit to the background.
